Botox to Botox
Oil bar, acrylic, charcoal on canvas 150x100cm 2026
Working across drawing, painting, printmaking, appliqué, soft sculpture, and collage, my practice explores the tension between figuration and abstraction through an expansive approach to mark-making and materiality.
Underlying the work is an interest in metamorphosis, systems of human hierarchy, and the fragile boundaries that connect us to our animal selves in the age of the Anthropocene. Mythical and historical narratives provide a starting point, with characters and forms emerging into a fluid, carnivalesque world where identities shift and categories dissolve.
Poetry, contemporary song lyrics, and everyday language inform both subject matter and titles, creating connections between past and present. Layers of marks accumulate like traces of memory and history, sometimes revealing and sometimes obscuring earlier incarnations. Visceral gestures intersect with more delicate charcoal drawings, allowing different visual languages to converse across the surface. Through the process of painting, I navigate spaces of transformation and ambiguity, exploring the shifting boundaries between images and the possibilities that emerge within the gaps between them.
